This workshop is for new personnel to the forest products industry or those companies who want to develop a competitive advantage through the marketing concept. 
  
Specific topics include: 
1. An overview of the current forest products industry;
2. Why firms should focus on marketing in their organization;
3. What is forest products marketing;
4. The 4 Ps’ of marketing as they apply to the forest products industry (Pricing, Promotions, Products and Distribution);
5. Developing a marketing strategy for your company;
6. Marketing research for the industry;
7. Sales techniques for the forest products industry;
8. Green marketing (certification, green building issues); and
9. International marketing and markets;   

The faculty involved in the workshop include: Bob Bush, Tom Hammett, Henry Quesada and Bob Smith from Virginia Tech and Al Schuler from the USDA Forest Service at Princeton, WV.  The workshop fee of $455 ($400 for employees of companies that are members of the Center for Forest Products Business) covers registration, instructional materials, coffee breaks, continental breakfasts and lunches. Registration deadline is October 9, 2010.
