NWFA Announces Community Service Award Recipients

ST. LOUIS, Missouri (June 22, 2009) The National Wood Flooring Association announced its 2009 Community Service Award recipients during its convention in Long Beach, California, April 28 – May 1.  NWFA Community Service Awards are presented to companies that perform volunteer work for charitable organizations.

This past year, despite some of the worst economic times our industry has experienced in more than two decades, 32 NWFA member companies found the time, the means, and the inclination to give to others.  Their volunteerism ranges from replacing all the flooring in a home-away-from-home for families with children undergoing cancer treatment, to providing the flooring for disabled soldiers returning from war, to donating materials and labor for Habitat for Humanity, to refinishing floors in senior citizen homes, to volunteering time for children in need, to repairing floors in historic buildings.

Member companies that were recognized this year with an NWFA Community Service Award at the 2009 Convention in Long Beach include:

These members have all made our communities better places by exemplifying the philosophy that charity defines us as individuals, as communities, and as an industry.

The National Wood Flooring Association is a non-profit trade organization, with more than 3,700 members world-wide, dedicated to educating consumers, architects, designers, specifiers and builders in the uses and benefits of wood flooring.  NWFA members receive the best in educational training, benefits, technical resources and networking, to advance their professionalism and success.  The NWFA is located at 111 Chesterfield Industrial Boulevard, Chesterfield, MO 63005, and can be contacted at 800-422-4556 (USA), 800-848-8824 (Canada), 636-519-9663 (local and international), or on-line at www.nwfa.org.
